Columbian TecTank™ is the leading manufacturer of water storage tanks for fire protection. Factory-coated bolted steel tanks are often the most economical and longest lasting form of storage for fire protection water. Alternatives include standpipes, tanks engineered for combination process water/fire protection service and dry silos for lime and water treatment chemicals.

For combination process water/fire, Columbian TecTank™ can design and engineer tanks that provide process water and enough storage for fire protection. The primary requirement is that the reserve capacity meets the potential demand for fire protection. Used in private fire protection systems as a standby pressurized water storage to provide water until supplemented by the fire .

All tanks for fire protection, tanks supporting structures and water supply systems, including piping, control valves, check valves, heating systems, mercury gauges and expansion joints are inspected annually to ensure that they are in satisfactory operating condition.

Fire protection. Tanks and troughs containing flammable liquids shall be provided with heat-actuated automatically closing covers arranged so as not to interfere with exhaust ventilation. Fire Protection tanks that are not coated must be inspected every 3 years.

Cooling water cools the machines that make chilled water, and the
chilled water and the fire protection system share the same storage tanks called thermal fire protection tanks.

The supply of water through any service pipe on which there are installed or maintained for fire protection purposes, and within the premises of the consumer, either standpipes, fire hydrants, pumps, fire protection tanks or any other outlets or devices from which water may be drawn to extinguish fire, shall, except as hereinafter provided in this section, be entirely controlled by a meter or meters which shall accurately measure all of the water used through the fire protection tanks.

Water storage tanks for fire protection and dry silos for lime and water treatment. Galvanized corrugated tanks and stainless steel corrugated tanks are mainly used for ground water storage in households, irrigation and fire protection.

Fire Protection water tanks meet all fire code requirements. Powder coated corrugated tanks are the most economical steel storage tanks for fire protection storage requirements. Where protection of remote storage tanks is required, passive fire protection is commonly used.

For such large fire risks the costs of fire protection tanks and prevention are high, and optimising cost effectiveness is an important and difficult task. An improved understanding of the extinguishment mechanisms and limitations of fire fighting foams is essential to make such judgements.

The models have also been used to predict foam spread and fire extinction for typical full scale fire protection tanks. When designing a fire protection tank, it is important to understand and identify the characteristics and fuel material of a potential fire, the environment in which the detector will be sited and the risk of fire:

  • Inspect fire protection water supply tanks.

  • Inspect cathodic protection on water supply tanks.

  • Inspect all parts of gravity tanks.

  • Test fire pump at full rated capacity.

  • Inspect all fire hydrant water flow - to be completed by a qualified contractor.

Our products are holding tanks used to provide fire protection water for a sprinkler system that demands more water than the domestic water feed line serving the building can supply. Fire protection tanks requirements for container storage in storage cabinets, and inside rooms and warehouses--including spill containment and drainage and design criteria for fire protection systems

Installing suction and gravity fire protection water supply tanks that meet or
exceed local seismic code requirements. This crawl space contained utilities such as the domestic water tanks, fire protection water tanks and sewage tanks. Many County and State fire departments recommend corrugated steel tanks as economical alternatives to bolted or welded water tanks for fire protection tanks storage.

Our Corrugated Galvanized Water Storage Tanks are commonly used for domestic water storage, fire protection and small private water systems. Chances are that one or more new fire protection tanks will be installed in a new or existing commercial or industrial facility as a result of an insurance company recommendation, a requirement of the local fire authority, or a corporate standard.

In order for fire protection tanks to perform as intended it is important to understand that fire protection tanks at a facility consists not of just a few sprinkler heads, but of a network of engineered systems that must all function in synchrony to get the intended effect.
